- High school graduate or equivalent, or at least 18 years of age
- Current CPR and first-aid preferred

CAMP GOALS
The Goal of Geneva Glen Camp is to provide experiences for children and youth that promote discovery of one's own dignity and worth; encourage respect for all races, creeds and backgrounds; stimulate love for and care of the natural world; develop commitments to enduring values; train youth as creative school and community leaders; and to empowering participators to live at their highest level and to enrich their home communities through what they have learned at Geneva Glen.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
To identify and meet Camper needs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn the likes/dislikes of each participant
- Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group
- Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems or concerns
- Help each camper meet the goals established by the camp for camper development
- Provide an envelope of safety for children
- Provide good role modeling for children
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
To carry out Camp programs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Guide cabin groups and individual campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities
- Carry out established roles for supervising camper health
- Carry out and enforce camp safety regulations
- Develop cabin activities as appropriate
- Supervise all aspects of campers' day
- Instruct campers in emergency procedures
- Help campers plan their participation in camp activities
- Support activity directors in their areas whenever possible
- Assist in teaching or leading an activity
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
To fulfill other staff administrative roles.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare for and actively participate in staff training, and meetings
- Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, manners and appropriate language
- Follow camp rules pertaining to tobacco, use of alcoholic beverages and use of drugs
- Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities
- Manage personal time off in accordance with camp personnel policy and philosophy
- Maintain good public relations with camper parents
- Submit camper postcards on time, and with a smile!!
- Evaluate current season and make recommendations for following season (end of season evaluations)
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and others may be assigned as required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ability to communicate and work with groups participating and provide necessary instruction to campers
- Abilities to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity
- Ability to manage groups of children in the out of doors
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
The Counselor job consists primarily of cabin duty and program participation. The Counselor is responsible for knowing the whereabouts of each camper in his/her dorm at all times. He/She is responsible for cabin assignments, i.e., cabin clean-up duties; for effective condition of morale, to know when a camper is lonely or homesick, and helping a child to reach his highest potential as a good citizen in camp. The Senior Counselor will be the primary "guide" and leader for the CIT assigned to the group, as well as the Teen Trainee. The Junior counselor's duties are very similar to the Senior counselor, but the responsibilities will fall first to the Senior.
