MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Training and experience in pool and swimming activities
- Current certifications appropriate to position (i.e., water safety instructor, lifeguarding, etc.)
- Current CPR and first aid certifications
- Knowledge of pool management
- Ability to schedule and supervise staff
- Desire and ability to work with children
- Good character, integrity and adaptability
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
- College student or at least 19 years of age
- Program Director / Administrative Director / Camp Directors
- The Goal of Geneva Glen Camp is to provide experiences for children and youth that promote discovery of one's own dignity and worth; encourage respect for all races, creeds and backgrounds; stimulate love for and care of the natural world; develop commitments to enduring values; train youth as creative school and community leaders; and to empowering participators to live at their highest level and to enrich their home communities through what they have learned at Geneva Glen.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
- To assist the Aquatics Director to plan, direct and supervise camp's swimming program.
- Set up pool area during staff orientation
- Teach staff their responsibilities during staff orientation
- Conduct initial and end of season inventory, and store equipment for safety
- Check equipment and make and (or file for) repairs
- Conduct daily check of equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair
- Evaluate aquatic abilities of staff and campers
- Ensure chemical levels in pool are correct and safe
- Record all chemical levels, and test the pool water at least twice daily
- Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring - timely arrival of materials
- Assist in packing all materials and supplies at end of season
- Evaluate current season and make suggestions for following season
- Fulfill all requirements as a counselor to assigned cabin/dorm
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may by assigned as require
- Ability to swim and teach swimming
- Ability to act quickly in case of emergency
- Ability to maintain pool facility in safe proper condition, meeting all standards and health regulations
- Ability to supervise campers and staff in the water
- Ability to implement and enforce pool safety and cleanliness rules
