
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Training and experience with adventure/ropes course programs (must be documented) prefer someone highly experienced
- Current CPR and first aid certifications
- Ability to coordinate a ropes course program using a course designed for Geneva Glen Camp
- Ability to maintain course in excellent, safe working condition
- Ability to supervise program assistants and make scheduling assignments
- Desire and ability to work with children outdoors
- Ability to relate to one's peer group
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
- College student or at least 19 years of age
- Program Director / Administrative Director / Camp Directors
- The Goal of Geneva Glen Camp is to provide experiences for children and youth that promote discovery of one's own dignity and worth; encourage respect for all races, creeds and backgrounds; stimulate love for and care of the natural world; develop commitments to enduring values; train youth as creative school and community leaders; and to empowering participators to live at their highest level and to enrich their home communities through what they have learned at Geneva Glen.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up Ropes course prior to and during staff orientation
- Teach staff their responsibilities in area during orientation
- Teach and monitor proper use of equipment
- Conduct initial and end of season inventory, and store equipment for maintenance and safety
- Check equipment and make (or file for) repairs
- Conduct daily check of equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair
- Follow standard rules applicable to ropes course, rappelling, etc...
- Submit orders for equipment and/or supplies when needed, ensuring timely arrival of materials
- Assist in packing all materials and supplies when season ends
- Evaluate current season and make recommendations for equipment, supplies, and program for following season
- Fulfill responsibilities as a counselor to assigned cabin/dorm
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required
- Physical ability to set up, build and run Ropes course
- Ability to observe, assess safety regulations and hazards
- Ability to act quickly in case of emergency
- Ability to lift camper, staff on ropes and belay
- Ability to communicate to staff and campers, instructions and directions
- Ability to develop, write, and administer curricula on ropes course instruction
