Pendragons
The Pendragon Society is a group of volunteers whose members support the camp by providing volunteer service in the form of manual labor, including construction, maintenance, painting, landscaping, cleaning, or professional services according to ability or skill. Pendragons make a significant financial contribution by providing semi-skilled labor which would otherwise need to be hired or contracted.
Knowledge & Experience
- Most projects do not have requirements for knowledge & experience, all over 16 are welcome (under 16 with a parent)
- Technical service may be given on an as needed basis (this may include engineering, architectural, or other professional services
Participation Includes
- Attendance at monthly pendragon work days (days typically last 5 hours). Attendance at every work day is not required—come when you can!
- Professional service work arranged for as needed
Time Commitment
The Pendragons hold work days once a month, typically on the first Saturday (March-May and September-December). Volunteers need not attend every work day each year. Sign up for the mailing list to receive work day announcements. Work days begin at 10 and usually last until mid-afternoon. Lunch is provided, volunteers do not need to stay for the full work day.
May Work Day
May Work Day Volunteers spend the day doing various projects to help ready camp for the start of the Summer season.
Knowledge & Experience
- No prior knowledge or experience is necessary, just a pair of gloves.
Participation Includes
- Cleaning cabins and dorms
- Cleaning various areas of camp
- Spreading mulch and sand
- Trimming bushes
- Trail and trash maintenance
- Other projects happening around camp
Time Commitment
May Volunteer Day is on a Saturday during the month of May. Work begins at 9am and is usually completed around 5. Lunch is provided and there is no requirement to stay all day long!
Strawberry Pancake Breakfast
The volunteers help create a hospitable camp environment for our new families during our annual breakfast in May.
Knowledge & Experience
- Knowledge of how camp currently operates
- Ability to answer questions from families or guide them to someone who will know the answer
- Expectation to work hard for the 3-hour time frame
Participation Includes
- Checking-in the families and welcoming them to camp
- Acting as a host/hostess and making introductions to families
- Serving breakfast to families (pancakes, strawberries, bacon, beverage)
- Busing tables after families have finished their breakfast
- Doing dishes
- Leading tours
- Lodge clean-up after the event has concluded
Time Commitment
- Typically, the 3rd Saturday in May, volunteers will be asked to help from 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Check-In / Check-Out
Check-In / Check-Out Volunteers spend the day helping with meeting and greeting parents and campers as well as guiding them to cabins, dorms and through the check in/out process.
Knowledge & Experience
- Basic knowledge of the camp sessions
- Able to answer general questions about Geneva Glen
Participation Includes
- Helping with set up and tear down of registration
- Helping with sportswear deliveries to cabins
- Guiding parents to areas around camp
- Reassuring and answering questions of campers and parents
Time Commitment
- Saturday Check-Out: 2-3 hours Timing TBD
- Sunday Check-In: 4-5 hours timing TBD
Barn
Barn Volunteers work with the camp wranglers to assist in the operation of the Geneva Glen Barn program.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience working with/riding horses
- Knowledge of the Geneva Glen Barn operation
Participation Includes
- Working cooperatively with the Wrangling Staff
- Cleaning stalls and other daily chores
- Facility maintenance
- Handling and grooming horses
- Other professional services as appropriate (ex. vaccinations/healthcare for volunteer veterinarians, trimming horses for volunteer farriers)
- Horseback riding is not guaranteed but may be available depending on the circumstances
Time Commitment
- Barn volunteers are needed from May – October
- There is no minimum required time commitment; any help is appreciated!
- Frequency and schedule should be planned and communicated between the volunteer and Wrangling Staff
Camp Family Committee
Responsible for efforts to maintain and strengthen the continued involvement and support of the Geneva Glen Camp Family on a local and national level. The intent of such efforts shall be to encourage alumni to participate in the life of Geneva Glen and in camp events by connecting camp's past, current, and future alumni through fellowship and events both in and outside of camp. The "Camp Family" includes former and current campers, parents, and staff, as well as neighbors, vendors, volunteers, and supporters.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience and/or education in event planning
Participation Includes
- Attendance at periodic committee meetings. Attendance at every meeting is not required – come when you can!
- Volunteer leading up to and at various events
- Help with set up and tear down of registration at events
- Organize activities that bring alumni, parents, neighbors, vendors, and supporters to camp
- Encourage and recruit members of the Camp Family to help plan special activities
- Organize or support events outside of Colorado to involve alumni from across the nation, including the potential creation of alumni chapters
- Keep Camp Family informed of current camp activities through communications from the committee or other camp publications
- Assist GG Staff in maintaining an updated list of addresses and other contact information
- Encourage continued financial and in-kind support of camp’s fundraising efforts
- Encourage participation in volunteer opportunities that support camp
- Other planning related tasks/projects as they arise

Development Committee
Responsible for efforts to support the GG Board of Directors, Camp Director(s), and Development Director in the creation and implementation of reaching camps annual, in-kind, capital, major gift, and planned giving goals.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience and/or education in fundraising, such as annual campaigns, capital campaigns, major gifts, and planned giving.
- Experience and/or education in event planning
Participation Includes
- Attendance at monthly committee meetings. Attendance every month is not required – come when you can!
- Volunteer leading up to and at various fundraisers
- Helping with set up and tear down of registration at events
- Assist GG Staff in maintaining an updated list of addresses and other donor information
- Other fundraising-related tasks/projects as they arise

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is commissioned by the Board of Directors of the Geneva Glen Camp to provide leadership in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The committee is responsible for efforts to explore ways to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment at camp. The intent of such efforts shall be to open up dialogue about how camp can continue and sustain the work of anti-racism.

- Demonstrated experience with diversity topics

- Analyze and adapt Geneva Glen’s program materials ongoing to meet DEI goals
- Attend and lead Listening Sessions
- Educate the Camp Family about the importance of DEI

Stewardship Committee
Responsible for overseeing and advising on facilities and properties including such matters as water rights, property issues, capital construction, facility maintenance, upkeep of trails and natural environment, and the general condition of the facilities.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience and/or education in a field such as water, construction, conservation, sustainability, forestry, etc.
Participation Includes
- Attendance at periodic committee meetings. Attendance at every meeting is not required – come when you can!
- Assisting Property Manager and Facilities Director in areas related to your field of expertise
- Help design and implement camp’s 10-Year Sustainability Plan
